FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE -- OCTOBER 21, 2009
JEFFERSON CITY—The Missouri Public Service Commission has approved an agreement which authorizes I.H. Utilities, Inc. to increase annual water operating revenues by approximately $17,085.
The agreement approved by the Commission was filed by the water company and the PSC staff. The agreement was not opposed by the Office of the Public Counsel, a separate state agency which represents the general public in cases before the PSC.
I.H. Utilities, Inc. filed a rate request with the Public Service Commission seeking to increase annual water operating revenues by approximately $45,000. As part of the rate case process, the PSC staff conducted a thorough audit of the company’s books and records. Based upon that review, the PSC staff recommended annual water operating revenues be increased by approximately $17,085. The company and the PSC staff then entered into an agreement which was filed with the Commission.
Under the agreement approved by the Commission, the water bill for a residential customer using 6,000 gallons of water a month will increase from $12.14 a month to $14.58 a month. The rate increase will take effect for service on and after October 27, 2009.
I.H. Utilities, Inc. serves approximately 700 water customers in Crawford County near Cuba, Missouri.
