FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE -- OCTOBER 16, 2009

JEFFERSON CITY---The Missouri Public Service Commission (PSC) will hold a local public hearing in Rolla, Missouri on November 4, 2009, to receive customer comment on a water rate request filed by Gladlo Water & Sewer Company, Inc. (Gladlo).  Customers who have had any service related issues may also bring those to the attention of the Commission during the local public hearing.  The Rolla local public hearing schedule appears below.

5:30 p.m.   PSC staff information session starts.

6:00 p.m.   Local public hearing begins.  The hearing will conclude when every person who wishes to testify has done so.

This local public hearing will be held in a facility that meets the accessibility requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act.  Any person who needs additional accommodations to participate in this hearing should call the Public Service Commission’s hotline at 1-800-392-4211 (voice) or Relay Missouri at 711 prior to the hearing.

Gladlo filed a water rate request with the PSC on May 20, 2009, seeking to increase annual water operating revenues by approximately $7,143.  In addition, the company sought a 12 month rate assessment of $18.38 per customer to cover the cost of a recent major well repair.

Under the small company rate case process, the PSC staff audits the books and records of the company.  After the audit, the PSC staff and the company meet to discuss the results.  Based upon those discussions, the PSC staff and Gladlo reached an agreement which has been filed in this case.

Under the agreement, annual water operating revenues would increase by approximately $6,998.  For a residential customer using 5,000 gallons of water a month, the current water bill is $14.38 a month.  Under the agreement between the PSC staff and the company, that bill would increase to $33.91 a month.  The $33.91 includes a proposed $10.00 a month surcharge for up to 30 months to pay for a recent major well repair.  The five member Commission decides all cases brought before it.  The Commission has not decided this case.

Gladlo Water & Sewer Company, Inc. currently serves approximately 68 water customers in the Whispering Pines Subdivision near Rolla.
